Ping

Original geolocation app for friends

Ping lets you see your friends on a map and share your location with whom, where and when you want. Because the world is big and life is a game!

With Ping, the cool thing is that everyone gets a username and an avatar. When you send a Ping (Where are you?), it will request your friends’ location and your friend can Check (I’m here!) to let you know where he/she is. Everytime you receive a Check, your friend’s avatar will display their current position on your map. Also, you can send Pings & Checks to many friends at a time! Ping is non-intrusive and offers the same privacy level that a text message: user’s position will only update when they send another Check. Easy.

I like the 'request' mechanic you use. That solves the privacy issue other location sharing apps suffer from. One question I have though is if the functionality you provide is enough for people to use another app. Most messenger apps let you share your current location right? And requesting someone's location is one text away. How will Ping provide such a superior experience that people will choose it over the apps they already use?

Hi Marc, thanks for this feedback. We realized that in daily life, the essence of communications is often about location. " Where are you?" "Lunch on campus?" " Up for a drink downtown?" And that's where it all started.
We wanted an app where you could talk via geolocation and see all your friends on one map in the blink of an eye. Try it out and let us know what you think :)

@thepingbox Just signed up! I assume my friends will need to start using it too before it becomes useful right?

Cool! Indeed:) But meanwhile you can add us (Rainbow and Player1) to try out functionalities!
