Penmob is an online writing workshop. While lots of platforms exist for finished work, there aren't many options for improving your writing before you hit "publish". Finding editors is hard, requires lots of word-of-mouth referrals, and there is no guarantee that they'll be a good fit until after you've spent money.

The process for freelance editors isn't much better. Editors are readers, first. They have varying strengths and preferences. It's just as painful for them when the writer who hired them isn't a good fit. On Penmob, editors do work based on their strengths rather than entire drafts start-to-finish.
