Fictionary

Turn your first draft into a great story

Fictionary is a game-changing online tool for fiction writers with a first draft. Fictionary guides writers through an automated, big-picture edit with a deep focus on story structure, not on the words. Think characters, plot, and settings.

With Fictionary you can visualize and evaluate your manuscript on a scene-by-scene basis to ensure your story works. Save time on your rewrites and save money on editing services by sharing only your best work. Be your own big-picture editor. Become a better writer.

Very promising. Would this also work for screenwriters when they're working on treatments which don't have chapters but do have story arcs?
@AntAlleyne screenwriters have scenes, don't they? I would say it should work as well
@AntAlleyne Very insightful :) We have this on our radar for a future release depending on community interest. Currently, Fictionary evaluates manuscripts but not screenplays. As we are fiction writers, we chose to focus on novels first. Thanks for the question.
Looks like a great app!
@sonyaconn Thank you :) I hope it helps you create a story readers love!
This is already such a clean beta, and the developers are on top of making it super smooth.
@raimeygallant Thank you. You've been a great beta tester!
I forgot to mention that I'm an author, in case it wasn't apparent. Perhaps not a well-rested one. ;)
Fictionary is tres cool.
@CAMorganti Thank you, Charlotte. It's great to have you on board. Best of luck with your writing.
@CAMorganti How is it cool? What do you like about it....etc
As an Amazon Bestselling author, I have used Fictionary to revise my current work in progress, entitled MindField, an espionage technothriller due out in early December 2017. My feeling is that Fictionary helped me to improve the manuscript significantly, and I will use in on all my subsequent novels. I am trained as both a novelist and screenwriter, but I focus exclusively on producing novels. And, that is where Fictionary is most useful. The toolbox within Fictionary helps a novelist see exactly where their work is weakest and strongest, and pushes me to work on fixing my problems.
@DSKaneThriller Congratulations on your writing success, and I'm so pleased Fictionary has helped such an established author as youself. Thanks for stopping by and letting us know what you think!
I will be the first to say (being a dumbo senior) I havent a clue how this works.
@JessieBTyson We'd love for you to try Fictionary. if you have a chance, let me know, and I can help you out.

Best of luck with your writing.
@FictionRewrite Thanks for your reply. I still say I am a dumbo, simply because without downloading it I cannot see how to use this program. Do we upload and where does our story go to, the cloud (dislike that) or does it stay in our computers....
@JessieBTyson PS all I see is a bunch of graphics
@FictionRewrite sorry I REALLY need to know how it works before I download it to my small gig computer. I'm sure you have it mentioned somewhere, I just cant find it, can only see graphics.
I am not a fan of monthly subscriptions for things I would only use occasionally. I write music, fiction, non-fiction, dabble in graphic arts, etc. At any given time, I may be focused on just writing music for a few months for example and not ever use my writing application or my graphics software. A subscription model charging me monthly when I am not using it does not work for me. Scrivener and Aeon Timeline are essential writing tools for me and priced affordably. If either required a subscription, I would not have bothered to even try them out. Please make a standalone product that I can buy and use at my leisure.
@musiclogical Hi Alan. Thanks for stopping by. Fictionary allows an author to sign on for a month with no long term commitment, so they can use it only when they are in the structural editing phase of their work. An author would use Scrivener when they are writing their first draft, and Fictionary when they are ready to work on story structure. Fictionary can be used in one month increments until the writer is happy with their manuscript.

We chose the subscription model, so we can deliver monthly updates to make the tool as useful as possible to writers, and Fictionary will get better every month as we continue to develop it.

Best of luck with your endeavors.
