Curtsy

Curtsy is a dating app that focuses on the one part of online dating that other apps neglect, the conversation. The issue with how people communicate today can be broken down into three components. 1) Difficult to start conversations with matches. 2) Text messages lack intimacy and have a cold, impersonal, feel. 3) No incentive to build rapport with matches.

Curtsy removes the awkwardness of starting a conversation with matches by requiring users to start an icebreaker before beginning a conversation. Users of Curtsy can communicate only through voice messages in the beginning. (The ability to text is unlocked later). By creating a reward system where the more you communicate with your match the more features you unlock (i.e. texting and requesting your match's number), Curtsy keeps users more engaged with their matches, and as a result creates more real life interactions.
