Ommie

Ommie is a mobile app that allows people to connect over inspirational personal stories. It combines creative writing as therapy and mindfulness to let users inspire each other and get through important and challenging life situations (e.g.: #grief, #blacklivesmatter, #cancer, #stillbirth, etc.)

A "like" is not instantaneous. Instead, users are asked to press and hold the button to fold virtual origami birds, Ommies. They are a symbol of presence and gratitude for the person who shared the story and/or for the common cause. Ommie is meant to raise the awareness of important subjects which tend to be a taboo. In the process, members become each others' supporters.
