17 Seconds uses video to facilitate interactions that are more real. Instead of posting photos users are prompted to record a short video selfie. When a match is established users can engage in a 17-second live video chat with their match. Studies show that people form a first impression within 17 seconds of meeting someone new. It's just enough time to gauge chemistry, but not so long that one feels trapped if there isn't.
