What's the most common mistake (beginning) creatives make with regards to self-promotion on Instagram?
I think it can go as simple as people not being patient enough in the beginning. I saw a lot of people starting out really well (great content, posting on regular basis etc.), but they gave up after a few weeks. Their expectations were really high, but they didn't want to do the "work" in long term.
Then the second (connected to the first one a bit) could be too much overthinking to make everything beautiful since day one instead of trying out tools, experimenting with styles or messing around with the platform itself.
